Panic Buttons

"Don't Panic! Order a Panic button for your computer."

What we do

We sell three novelty computer keys:
red PANIC button, gray ANY KEY and soon,
a green What Ever key.
Great gag gifts for frustrated computer users.

Our business history

Family operated since 1989, we've sold PANIC buttons and ANY KEYS to the Smithsonian, Boston Computer Museum, Museum of American Folk Art, and to a convent. Our favorite part of the business is getting letters from people describing their particular model of computer and asking if the PANIC buttons are compatable. Remember, these are gag gifts and don't perform an actual funtion. They can be attached to any part of your desktop keyboard.

About our staff

Silvana Clark is a professional speaker, presenting keynotes and workshops on the topic of innovative marketing ideas for small businesses. After all, she promoted her dog to star in commercials for Honda, Chrysler, Reebok and many others. Then she sold over 85,000 PANIC buttons without any form of paid advertising.

What makes us unique?

We are simple, novel, cheap, and fun!

"Bellingham, WA. As businesses increase workloads and tighten deadlines, employees face stress on a daily basis. Headaches, muscle soreness and irritability are common work related complaints. “Humor is one of the easiest and least expensive way to reduce stress on the job", said Silvana Clark, a professional speaker on the topic of humor in the workplace.

It is possible to have a light hearted attitude at work while still maintaining a professional work atmosphere. Encourage employees on vacation to send the most bizarre postcard they can find back to the office. Display the tacky postcards around the copy machine. Celebrate non-traditional holidays such as Gourmet Coffee Day on October 21 by bringing in an unusual flavor of coffee for the staff coffee machine. Set out a box of Twinkies ™ to celebrate National Twinkie Day on April 6th. Ask employees what they think is fun. One supervisor was surprised to hear his employees say they would have more fun at work if they could set their own work related goals. Other companies find their employees enjoy working on service projects together or creating a company cook book. “Having fun at work doesn’t mean everyone goes around with red clown noses, blowing kazoos,” said Clark. “When Massachusetts General Hospital purchased 100 computers for their staff, they attached a bright red computer novelty key imprinted with “PANIC” to each key board. This helped reduce stress for employees faced with learning new skills. (www.panicbuttons.com)
Encouraging humor at work reduces stress and increases productivity. Clark suggests companies begin with small steps such as beginning a humor bulletin board where employees can post cartoons, jokes and other humorous items. Even starting a staff meeting with an industry related cartoon, sets the tone for reducing employee stress.
